Tierra del Sol Foundation is looking for dedicated, compassionate, and reliable staff to work with our associates on a variety of different skills to encourage basic and advanced life skills. Direct Support Professionals (or DSPs) play an integral role in supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the places they live, work, and go to school.

No one plays a more important role in our mission than our DSPs, who work as partners, teachers, ambassadors, advocates, supporters, and so much more to our associates (clients).

All staff have the opportunity to enhance their skills through DSP certification training and earn a bonus for each level completed.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
Provide small groups and one-on-one training in specific job skills and general work behaviors to adults with developmental disabilities
Maintain regular communication with employers regarding their satisfaction with employee performance, work schedules and quality assurance
Provide supervision and training to associates in self-advocacy, life skills, and social/leisure skills
Assist associates in accessing a variety of community locations using company/personal vehicles/public transportation
May provide virtual services in addition to in-person services.
Clear communication and the ability to write notes, interact with managers, associates and associates’ family.
The ability to multi-task and teach associates skills in critical areas required for successful access to the community (including: vocational training, customer service, public transportation training, etc.)
The ability to lead small group and one-on-one training
Flexibility in accommodating the associate’s schedule
Minimum 3 years of driving experience with a clean driving record (no more than 2 points)
Valid California Driver’s License
Personal vehicle with seat belts to safely accommodate up to 4 passengers
This position requires dedication, good judgement, and quick problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with Zoom, cellphones, laptops.
A Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Social Service / Rehabilitation is a plus but not required.
Experience working with people with disabilities a plus but not required. We will provide training.
DSPs are typically scheduled to work 37 hours per week (Monday – Friday usually between the hours of 7:00am – 4:00pm) Hours and duties are subject to change based on program needs and may include weekends, holidays and evening hours to meet associate needs, employer and stake holder expectations. Staff will have a 30-minute working lunch when actively supporting associates with a working lunch agreement on file.
